How long do you intend keeping it? The Focus and Peugeot 308 diesels both use the notoriously unreliable PSA 1600 HDI unit which is well known for oil starvation issues and catastrophic turbo failure which usually sees the blades disintegrate and metal ingested by the engine. Google PSA 1600 HDI engine problems for countless tales of woe. I'd advise against unless you buy new or nearly new and get shot before the warranty is up. Far better bet would be an Astra with the 1.7 Isuzu diesel... Keep clear of the 1.3 and 2.0 Fiat Diesel engines models though. The Astra is tough, reliable, quick, comfortable and built in Britain.

Not all Focus have the 1.6 tdci engine, you can get a 2.0 aswell.

Can't say I have ever heard of 1.6 tdci/HDi engines having turbo blades disintegrating and being eaten by the engine.

Why didn't you include the Volvo 1.6 diesels in that list though?

We have the 1.3 diesels at work. Awful underpowered things and still less than 50 mpg as they get thrashed just to get them to move.
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

It was used by Peugeot, Citroen, Mini, Ford, Volvo and Mazda and a quick online search will show up plenty of examples of such problems among others. Feel free to do so.

It's notorious and disliked by the trade as a result which is a shame since it's actually a very efficient engine and quite quiet for a diesel when it is working properly.

Why do you just repeat information given already in the thread?

Why do your facts keep changing?

A minute ago you said only Ford and PSA use that engine?

Can you link to a story where the turbo blades have broken off and been eaten by the engine? Would be an interesting read.

At no point did I say that only Ford and PSA use that engine.

Plenty of cases of it if you care to research for yourself, I'm not spending any more of my day arguing with you.

Truth of the matter is you're just on here trolling looking for an argument and I've better things to do with my day.

    Here is your post.

You only mention Focus and 308.

And where do you think most of the 1.6 Diesel engines are made?

    Dagenham.

And when are you going to put up links to the reports of these engines eating the turbo blades?

As I have said elsewhere, that would be an intereresting read?

And then you went straight to abuse?

    Funny that.
