G24 parking ticket - Kingswood retail park hull

Hi totally new to this forum and have been reading about people ignoring as this is only an invoice and not an official fine..

I was 20m over a two hour time limit and have got a £100 enforcement letter. It was my error and I just didn't see the signs. My fault.

I have never had anything like this and I'm afraid to ignore it. I'm horrified by the cost but it's not especially unfair as I did go over the time limit. In this case should i just contact them and pay? I will be terrifed if I get court letters, or it affects my credit record??
..

Any help or advice is much appreciated xx:(

    1. Read 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST' at the top of this forum board.

    2. Put G24 into 'search this forum/search this board'. read thr zillions of other G24 threads where no-one pays.

    3. What happened when you complained to the retailer about this crap?

It was my error and I just didn't see the signs. My fault.

Get real. No it wasn't. You sound young; you need to learn about scams in life.
In this case should i just contact them and pay?

    Errrrrmmmm....no.

I will be terrified if I get court letters, or it affects my credit record??

It won't, get wise. Read other G24 threads, search the forum and read the sticky thread.

IGNORE has not been recommended on here for almost 4 years, not since october 2012 when POFA2012 came in so I have no idea where you got that impression

    the answer is simple

    ALWAYS APPEAL

if they dont cancel , then it may be IGNORE MODE and definitely is IGNORE MODE for this PPC which is G24

so its , appeal, then ignore

if court papers were to turn up within 6 years, you come back for more help

"It was my error and I just didn't see the signs. My fault".

Why? Were the signs large enough, were they prominent, was the font large enough etc etc.

"I'm horrified by the cost but it's not especially unfair as I did go over the time limit"

Really? What car parks do you usually park in where you think £5 per minute is a fair charge?
  • Thank you for the advice, and unfortunately I am not particularly young (39)... I was attending a work meeting and I was in a rush. But I appreciate your comments. For some reason I can't access the newbie info - is it because I'm reading this on my phone?

I will appeal, I have receipts from that day of places I had the meeting/purchased some things. I only stated it was my fault as surely I don't have a leg to stand on to contest this as I did over stay in the car park ( it wasn't unfair or incorrect).

My ref to unfair was simply because it was my error, I think it's totally disgusting to charge such an amount and it did scare me to receive a letter like this. If my appeal is denied then ignore?

Any advice or other way to view the newbie advice apppreciated. Thank you for reading and all advice. Apologies for coming across like a naive fool, I'm just so cross about it.

    Many thanks again

If you are being serious about this put down your phone and get on a proper computer.

You still have the wrong mind set, you are being scammed for a ridiculous sum of money by greedy Muppets that have just hit on an easy way to extract money out of victims.

These are not official fines they are made up charges that are designed by nasty people that couldn't care less what they do or how they go about making easy money to buy their next BMW or villa in The Algarve.

They serve no useful purpose and prey on victims including OAP's, the sick, disabled and anyone else they can get their hooks into.

This is bandit country, stop thinking you are at fault, if you didn't see the signs they cannot have been prominent enough can they.

The newbies thread is here three threads down on the first page:

the NEWBIES sticky thread is about 3 threads down this forum, near the top, so above your thread

ideally use a laptop, not a phone

you do one appeal as keeper, then IGNORE

never admit liability, they may not have planning permission for the signs , the signage could be woeful , not up to code , no landowner authority , all sorts

its just an invoice , nothing more

we could ask you for £25 for each and every reply and bill you for reading the advice, its an invoice , you would ignore us too if we charged you

even if its true that you or the driver was in error, the punishment does not fit the "crime"

if you found a mars bar in your bag after shopping in asda, you would not agree that if caught your hand is removed , would you ? error or no error
  • Thanks again to all. I have read the newbie section and will appeal on email asap as the keeper. Do I scan and attach receipts? Does that make any difference?

Is it likely they will cancel or am I looking at a few more disgraceful letters that I need to ignore. .. ? I have also read that the company in question has never had any court claims. I feel furious that I almost paid this online this afternoon.

by all means scan and attach COPIES of receipts and appeal as KEEPER using the first template (the IPC template)

also complain strongly to the landowner or retailer and again attach copies of receipts to prove patronage. they should not be targeting genuine shoppers

maybe they should allow longer to shop ? 3 hour limit and you would have no problem

my missus and her sister spent 5 hours on a retail park patrolled by parking eye who have a 4 hour limit !!

they cancelled it after receipts showed patronage of shops on that large retail park (over 25 shops on there)

G24 are unlikely to cancel but you never know

G24 are unlikely to go to court but you never know

the landowner who employed these par@sites needs their ear bent and realistic targets set for genuine shoppers

yes you will get scummy demands for payment, IGNORE unless its actual court papers

ps:- you should get 10 minutes grace period to park up , read the signs and comply, plus OVER 10 minutes grace period to leave the car park

you are allowed 2 hours parking time , therefore time on site will be longer

therefore you are within the total time limits of time on site once you add grace periods both sides of the parking time

Feel relieved that you didn't pay it! :D
I only stated it was my fault as surely I don't have a leg to stand on to contest this as I did over stay in the car park (it wasn't unfair or incorrect).
Not your fault at all - you were shopping at the retail park! Totally unfair charge, in any other situation you would never stand for this trashy demand!

You don't need a 'leg to stand on' (although you do have two) because, as Redx says, appealing is unlikely to get this cancelled.

A complaint to the landowner/retailers has most success in getting G24's baseless charges cancelled in minutes. One phone call from a Store Manager this weekend can cancel for you, in most retail parks, or email the Head Office of any national retailer there, to complain angrily about this utter harassment.

Think about it. The only reason you are wavering and think it's your fault/you did the 'crime' and maybe you should pay is because it's a pseudo parking 'ticket' made to look all official. And people pay parking tickets don't they - we are indoctrinated to worry about parking tickets so you are assuming 'blame'.

Now stop and consider what your thoughts would be if instead of a parking firm, you had a letter from the retail park's cleaning firm, charging you £100 for dropping a tissue in the car park! You would either laugh at the ridiculous charge or get angry and complain - because it would be such a farce and an obvious scam.

This is a farce and an obvious scam, see through it! It is the 'parking ticket' appearance that blinds/worries people.

Don't let the fact it looks like a parking ticket and 'all official & scary' with threats of debt collectors, fool you into thinking it is anything less than aggressive business practice and harassment by an agent of the shop (or maybe contracted by the managing agents of the entire site). No more and no less than a VERY unfair charge; how DARE they do this to shoppers!

Mrs Coupon-mad (a keen shopper who has collected several of these over the years!) :D
