I've got a small amount of money to invest - should I put it into a funeral plan for self and husband, or put it towards an endowment mortgage on a rental property we own?

As you own 2 properties, it sounds like you don't really need a funeral plan, which are often very poor value.

Do you currently have an emergancy fund?

I am not sure how a funeral plan is poor value, as it will cover the main cost of a future funeral at today's prices. Given how funeral costs are escalating, it could prove very good value.
But if you are referring to one of those over 50 life insurance investment type plans, I would agree. They are very poor value.
