Refund offer from Canada Square re. Egg Card CRP

Hi all,
After researching here on moneysavingexpert.com and reading other peoples successes, failures and everything in between I have begun the battle in the PPI reclaiming process.
Up until the past 5 years or so my finances were never that great and for various reasons, like many, I took out various loans, credit cards and then consolidated them to do it all again. Anyway lessons learnt and grown up head now firmly screwed on!
Over the past year I have waded intermittently through all old credit agreements dating back to 1999 and determined that an Egg credit card and 3 Egg loans may well have been subject to CRP and PPI.
After initial phone calls and letters to both Barclaycard and Canada Square I eventually gained some good traction with Canada Square confirming that they do indeed manage the Egg accounts I once had also confirming I did actually have CRP and PPI on all facilities!
:j Cutting to the chase, today I received an offer from Canada Square for a pretty hefty sum of £1,300+ as a refund on CRP premiums paid plus interest less basic tax deductions for an Egg credit card that dated back to the early 2000's.
To be honest I am quite satisfied with the amount offered although I have in a recent letter requested a full breakdown of both CRP and PPI paid on all accounts of which is yet to arrive therefore I am unable to cross check.
I must say that Canada Square have actually been very quick to respond to my letters replying within 4-5 days, I feel that their offer is likely honest and fair, I am merely interested in other peoples thoughts and opinions/experiences before accepting.
Thanks for reading and best of luck to all, keep at it, it is definitley worth it!

This is promising to hear, I just started filling out my form to send across today, good to know they replied to you quickly.
I unfortunately don't have any documents anymore, I had a massive clear out when I moved 5 years ago.
I've managed to get a direct debit reference for the loan from my bank but not the credit card. I'm sure I had a small loan from them in 2002/3 but have not managed to get any details for this.
Fingers crossed I get some success without all the references, might have to go down the route of requesting a SAR0 -
Hi Katie,
I wouldn't worry too much about not having any paperwork just make sure you state in your opening letter all of your previous addresses.
Once they acknowledged I had loans/credit cards with Egg I received a short letter showing the egg loan number or credit card number. I then wrote a letter requesting all details on each which recently arrived in the post. Prior to that they also sent me a questionnaire to return.
Keep at it, you will get some results!
PS. In even better news I have just been offered 8K for my old egg loans!!! :j
Be cool and stay on top, as a little tip make sure you take copies of the things you return to them and maybe even send things recorded post....

Just thought I'd pop in and give an update on what's happened with me
I received an acknowledgement to my complaint around a week ago, I was away at the weekend and came back to 3 letters from Canada square
One upholding my complaint and offering me a payment of 160ish pound for ppi on one of my complaints
The 2nd referring to a previous complaint on my other loan and not changing the decision. I can't remember ever complaining before so I've gone back and asked for details of this.
The 3rd advising they'd sent the credit card part to Barclay card.
Barclaycard have been in touch today to gather some more details about my employment status, savings etc at the time I took out the ppi in 2004. They've now passed these on to continue the investigation.
So far it's been a very quick and pain free process, I just need to wait for my cheque and hear from Barclaycard.
Only had minimal details about one of my loans, so my advice to anyone else would be don't be too concerned if you don't know many details. In my case it hasn't been an issue0 -
Well thats good news Katie.
Seems Barclaycard were responsible for the Egg Card for a certain period - not sure exactly when. They did get involved initially and then it went back to Canada Square who quite promptly offered a settlement.
I have just received my cheques, they say it takes up to 20 working days, you'll get a letter from them saying they received your signed acceptance form and I think they count 20 days form then. In any case I got my cheques about 5-7 days early.
Fair play to Canada Square they seem to be playing nicely0
