My first time using the site, and I am reading things and wondering how I could be so slow on the uptake! Can anyone help me? In 1992 I took out an M&S card, a leaflet followed selling me their card protection, I took it out, I have never claimed, but always paid for all of these years, i have just received a letter from 'ccp' telling me that they no longer use M&S to sell their products & my renewal policy is due again to renew for the next 3years. It appears that they have been the provider all of these years. Have I been mis-sold? Any idea's what I should do from here?
Sorry to sound like I am 'out of the ark', but to be honest I really thought that I was doing the right thing.

I don't think the leaflet SOLD you the policy, it offered it but you would not have been under any pressure to buy because there was nobody there to pressurise you.
As far as M&S are concerned, this was long before regulation. If the provider subscribed to the Insurance Ombudsman Bureau at the time AND M&S was acting as an agent for the provider, the Financial Ombudsman Service MIGHT consider your complaint but would still need to be satisfied that the leaflet was misleading.0 -
You might still be able to complain to M&S about the Card Safe policy premiums paid before January 2005. Have a look at the M&S Bank website.0

You applied for, and got, a credit card and were later sent a leaflet offering PPI which you decided to take out. Why would you think you were 'mis-sold' the insurance?0 -

Although only a token monthly sum, CPP was a largely useless insurance and 95% of policies from 2005 and onwards have already been returned to customers via a Refund Scheme (which is now closed).
The problem for the OP is that he took out the insurance in 1992 and has continued paying it ever since. He can complain to Marks and Spencer, but if the complaint is rejected he won't have access to the Ombudsman because the sale took place pre-regulation.0 -
