Hi folks,

My nexus 7 2012 was playing up getting stuck at the flying colours at startup,(has OS 4.44 kitty kat didn't upgrade to 5.0)

So I went into recovery mode and tried that, but got all these messages.

E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery / log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery / log
E:failed to mount / cache (Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_install
E:failed to mount /cache (Invalid argument)

Anyway now it just restarts and gets as far as flying colours but then restarts again, have tried recovery again but same messages as above.

I have tried this site

https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

but it seems rather complicated, anyone know of somewhere where it is better explained and if there is any solution to this such as flashing the nexus?

Does seem to be charging ok, but obviously I can't connect to pc to see what files are in Nexus SSD so if flash is possible wonder how I would go about it.

Many thanks for any advice.

It's possible that the eMMC has a hardware issue, see thread at XDA here:

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284196

I'd suggest checking the eMMC before progressing further, if it's OK then it might be a good idea to register at XDA and ask for advice there as the level of android recovery expertise on that forum is second to none.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
