Google for solutions to removing Family Safety app in Windows 7 before upgrading; equivalent functionality is built into Windows 100 -
Tried W10 and went back to 7 as I didn't like it. My 17yr old daughter did the same.0

I've a laptop with Vista.
A desktop with win 7 and a laptop and desktop with Win 10, both upgraded from Win 8.1.
I don't do anything out of the ordinary with the computers, surf watch youtube and some online programmes and live sport but honestly I find little difference between any of the OSsIt's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
Thanks for replies.
So, done backups, and clicked on the windows 10 upgrade by clock, and I get the following message:
This pc is not compatible for windows 10
The app developers haven't made these apps compatible with windows 10, so they won't work.
Check with developers for support.
Windows live family safety.
Microsoft Corporation.
Their is no option to proceed.
So, I guess my acer laptop is to old.
Any ideas, or is their now no option, other than staying with windows 7.
I've read, it's not compatible with my HP all in one printer?
The compatability report says it is.?
My pc is fully compatable for upgrade.
I really don't want to upgrade, but was just thinking, should I?
If 2020 is end of support, then. maybe, staying with W7 might be my best option, and get a new laptop then, if this lasts till then.?.
Curious to know what all the song and dance is about, with W10, and, is it worth the hassle, as it's free.?
I started with Vista;never even seen W10.
will see how you get on.0 -

One option is to make a full backup using Macrium Reflect or similar onto an external hard disk, then try Windows 10. If it doesn't work, or you don't like it, restore the backup. (There is a built-in rollback option too but having your own backup is a bit safer.)
If you get as far as it activating Windows 10, before 29 July, then you should be able to install Windows 10 later on if you wanted to.0 -

The only things I keep on my pc are pics, nowt of importance.
Nothing to fret over if I lose them.
I've only backed up using DVD's before, when going from Vista to W7, and that wasn't successful.
I redeemed my pics from Google .
I rarely use pc , only for surfing,I use I-pad for banking etc.
I've never used Macrium, and don't have a ext ;hard drive.
I didn't know you could register before 29th, then install at leisure
.
Do you mean backup OS as well as whats on Pc?0 -

It's really not worth the hassle for you to upgrade. Especially if your machine is fine as it is now.
But if you would like to experiment, don't upgrade through the traditional method, but download the iso and create bootable USB Flash media. From there you can back up activation in order to install Windows 10 at a later date.0 -

Is it such a hassle going the traditional route, they make it sound simple, with the roll back?0
