card application before mortgage application

Options
OH and I have credit cards with quite high interest rates, as we had poor credit scores from financial difficulties in the past. All of the adverse stuff has now come off our files and we're about to apply for a mortgage (within the next month or two) so that we can move home. I want to pay off these cards quickly but now begrudge paying these ridiculous rates. Would it be advisable to switch to a credit card that has a 0% rate, or would the footprint on our credit file be detrimental to our mortgage application?

Many thanks

    No

Payoff the credit card as I'm sure its much more than the rate on your mortgage.

Do not apply for any credit/bank account whatsoever until the mortgage is finalised.
  • Thank you so much, nb - I'll hold off until after we've moved then :)
