Thursday 21st July - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Well I hope that's not an omen of the day ahead. I wrote a lovely long reply and then it disappeared....
Anyway, I was just talking about myself as usual. :D I made it :j although I'm not quite sure how, and I'm not in 'holiday' mode as yet. I was busy until 10pm last night though so I don't really think that it's had time to sink in yet that I'm on holiday. Weather is gorgeous so I intend to make the most of it, although the plans for today are not to do too much. I'm worn out and I really do need a rest.
    relax
    catch up on here
    check banking and PAD
 get naughty tortie to the vet (seriously - it's like groundhog day with her and the summer hols - 3rd year in a row she's cost a packet during summer)
    physio appointment later
 get the kids to do a bit of decluttering with me
 mow the grass later when it cools down a little bit
 make the most of the weather and do some washing
 and also get me and the kids out for a walk
    Have a good day everyone!

Morning all (just ;)) sorry been awol it seems when I'm not working I have less time - how does that work. Been thoroughly enjoying the weather and some quality time with the smalls.

Used our te5co vouchers to great effect :D and had a thoroughly enjoyable day at a theme park for a third of the price it should have been with a hodgepodge of tickets ;)

Today I've already been into town with dd1. We got a huge stash of cards for £10. That's should do me until December for birthdays and things :) we went to library and signed up for big friendly read - if you have children under about 12 I would say it's fab. My DD loved it. Plus they had some activities on too. Great hour spent.

Plus I was going to have to pay £2 to get my pin reissued so I could order books on line, because I needed to change my address, she did it for free for me and DD. £4 saved. Also as we have signed up for ^ we don't have to pay to order books for the summer rather than usual 50p :D

    Anyway, other things:
    Washing drying out on line
    Order some library books :D
    Meals from stores
Check banking, no chance of a pad I don't think as its payday tomorrow
Call mortgage co about how application is progressing
See if I can sort 1 shelf in garage :p
One thing from annoying things list
Froze a couple of things in fridge that won't get eaten today

Think that's about all, have a good day folks.

    Afternoon Sunny Campers,
A few bits of money saving on the list today. I got side-tracked yesterday so some tasks are appearing again, but I don't need to cook today & mr f will be late home, so I will get most of this finished today, hopefully all of it.
*Made a loaf in the bread machine.
    *Watered veggie garden & greenhouse.
*Cut lettuce & picked baby beet & sorrel leaves for tonight's salad. Pulled another bunch of spring onions. Still buying tomatoes (for another week or two unless ours get a wriggle on with ripening) but we are self-sufficient in cucumbers for a little while by the looks of things).
*Eat remaining portions of yesterday's veggie moussaka for dinner.
    *Do a few surveys
*Enter a competition (it's in the free Boots Health & Beauty mag/website if you haven't seen it. 20 prizes of big Sanctuary Spa hampers full of lovely products. Gotta be in it to win it!)
*Did next week's meal plans. mr f came round to my way of thinking that we do not need to make a roast dinner this weekend as we have lots of food in & could do with making space in the freezer, so that will save on buying a chicken/joint.
Stopping for lunch in a minute but this afternoon's jobs will be:
*Sowing 2 different types of lettuce & a trough of mixed leaves using a bundle of seeds kindly gifted to me by fellow veggie-grower :-)
*String our garlic crop for hanging........been on the list 2 or 3 days now. It WILL be done today!
*Cut herbs for bundling & hanging up to dry. Have had a quick look & it looks like marjoram, oregano, winter savoury & thyme are most ready for cutting. I did sage the other day.
*Work on financial project I was recruited for via UGov. Another job that's been on 2 or 3 lists. It isn't difficult, it's just that I have to start it in the middle of a monthly budget cycle & that makes it more complicated for this month, but I do have all the figures so it's just a case of making a cafetiere & sitting down at the table to get the spreadsheets completed. Anyone else get recruited for this? Payment in Amazon vouchers......which is why I went for it, as I thought they'd be so useful for presents.
*Keep an eye on cat. He had a scrap last night & came in wounded. It doesn't look quite as sore this morning but I may give it the salt water treatment later to be on the safe side & hopefully avoid a vet visit. (Or he'll be on the naughty step with CCL's Naughty Tortie!)
*Knit more of Mums present. It is growing quite nicely. The lace panel is finished now so it's just boring old SSt for loads of rows, which means I can knit it while watching TV, yakking or anywhere, really.
OK, lunchtime now, then on with those garden/herby jobs.
    Have a good day, all.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I've never seen the pair of them so enthusiastic about the same thing. I don't mind - a bit of fresh air never hurt anyone...

    Afternoon all :)
Thanks for the start CCL :)
Foxgloves and CCL, hope your cats are ok :(

    Clean bathroom
Chicken wraps for dinner tonight, and apple cake to finish up with ice cream for pudding :)
Make a chicken and ham pie using rest of chicken :)
