This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone.
Murky outside and grey. I not sure if the sun will break through or if rain will 'win' again.
Yesterday I re-rearranged the living room furniture and feel slightly happier about how it looks. I'll live with it for a while and until OH gets back as I'm sure he'll have an opinion.
Today is a working one for me. I'm in town for the workshop though it's always quiet in the summer break and I get rather bored. Got to keep thinking that it's money for old rope. This afternoon I've got some online students to sort out, two need techie help which I can't do and one has left it until almost the last minute to tell me about staffing problems on Coll which has affected her.
I hope everyone has a good Thursday.0 -
Good morning all, thank you Gers for starting us off.
It is a lovely morning here, slightly cooler so more comfortable.
I am off to the hairdressers this morning, I managed to find one closer to where we live so hope it will be OK.
I am meeting the"girls" tonight for a meal and a catch up. I look forward to going about every 6 weeks. I am leaving Himself and DGD with pizza so they won't have much to do. DGD isn't home from work until 6 and she doesn't want to eat straight away, so they can pop them in the oven when they are ready.
Lainey will be thinking of your Mum today, do you think the antibiotics might be making her feel ill as well?. Sometimes they have side effects.
Have a good day all

Morning all
Looks to be another nice day although maybe a bit cooler fingers crossed off to work for me today and I think we have some fans being delivered :jwhich will be a huge help !
Evie is off to the vets tonight for another check up hopefully they can tell us that she can have a longer walk now ! poor girl is fed up of short lead walks.
Something and chips tonight I have some lovely fresh duck eggs from the farm at work so might do egg and chips !
I took a cold water bottle to bed last night it was amazing the difference it made, fill it will very cold water then pop in freezer for 5 mins it really helped cool me down so worth a try if you are suffering with the heat !
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning chums ,first day of the school holidays for my DGS and this morning the youngest boy and I will make our 'holiday ' calendar which will consist of a square bit of cardboard on a string marked of in squares for each of them in turn to put a ig cross through until we all go away on holiday in 22 days time Its become a tradition since they were small to do this and even though they are 12,15 & 16 they still want to do it Their Mum has a perfectly good calendar up in the kitchen but this one supersedes it
it will be highly decorated as well:)before I go to start my holiday 'boy minding' I shall make my menu out for the next three weeks so I can use up as much of my stuff that I have and on Saturday I shall be going for the last shop before we go on holiday.
Carting three young boys around a shop is neither of our ideas of fun so I will get it all done and out of the way.We can then concentrate on what things we shall be doing before then :)possibly swimming in the local baths Free to 16s and under and over 60s so a free afternoon for us all .The country park will be another virtual freebie as we take squash and a picnic and only maybe splash out on an ice cream. The local library is good for a rainy day trip for an hour or so. We all try to save and think of as many 'free' days out as we can. the boys are quite inventive at times .Wet 'n' windy days we make cakes or biscuits and snuggle up on the sofa to watch a film, or play cards or scrabble or the youngest boys favourite 'Battleships'.School holidays don't have to be a nightmare We usually have a day out midweek somewhere new if we can, looking online locally will usually turn up something different, and hopefully inexpensive.
I know lots of Mums dread the holidays but I really don't mind them and my life gets put on 'hold' for a few weeks to make sure the DGS are busy and occupied .:):)
I hope every one has a good day, looks like it may be a warm one again.
Cheers chums

Morning everyone,
Bit overcast here but certainly cooler, we had the mother of all thunderstorms yesterday evening. Have never heard continuous thunder before, it kept it up for at least ten minutes then it hailed, hard! It battered my poor plants and stripped leaves off everything. Never boring our weather is it :rotfl:
Work today and once again it's just me & the new manager, let's see how much help I get today? Still, he is on his own tomorrow so will just have to get in with it.
Thanks Candlelight, I too wondered if the AB's were upsetting Mum's tum, let's hope we get some definitive results today.
JACKIE, your holiday plans for the boys sound fab, they must love spending time with you.
Anyways, better get a wriggle on, take care folks x0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for the thread Gers.
JackieO - sounds like you've got a busy few weeks ahead. It's great that your DD and partner have you to help with the boys.
redruby - hope Evie gets on OK at the vet.
candlelight - enjoy your night out.
We went for a meal in town last night to celebrate the end of term and good school reports. DD's boyfriend came too. He is very sweet and a little nervous of DH! The first place we visited had had a power failure so ended up in an American type diner. It was okay....nothing special, but it's was good not to have to cook. DH then had a scout admin meeting, so a few hours watching not a lot on TV.
I got up later today (7am) and I'm going to the gym before going into the charity 9-1. We work with schools so as long as we do our hours, it doesn't matter what time we start and finish. DH and I are off to Costco for food later for next weeks scout camp, so I'd rather start early and finish early.
Tonight DH and DS2 have their last scout meeting of the term, and DD and I are off to her rugby teams BBQ. A busy day all round. The usual washing to be done and line dried amongst all the above!
Hope you all have a great day.

Morning All
Not much weather out there, just grey but not raining so that's a bonus. Yesterday did clear up in the afternoon, put washing out and it almost dried (after a final rinse outside!).
I finished a lined shopping bag yesterday, only had to undo one part - I struggle with working out what will be where when I turn it the right way for some reason. One or two mistakes but all in all not a bad first try, the next one will be better.
Swimming and a haircut for me today and maybe the cinema later, anyone seen the Ab Fab movie?
Had a good hoover round yesterday, this budgie makes quite a bit of mess!
Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, but cloudy and overcast, supposed to be fresher today, we'll see. We had a short downpour last night that started with skies turning grey and dark then rolling thunder for quite a few minutes, plants don't look too bad and not battered.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. Boys still in their pits. Load in WM will peg it out shortly.
Dinner last night was chicken breast stuffed with cream cheese, grated mature cheddar and wholegrain mustard wrapped in bacon, I served oven roasted veg with it, was very nice. Dinner tonight will be frittata served with stuffed jacket potatoes and HM coleslaw.
Work yesterday was quiet - but then we had times when several customers all came in at the same time, now on days' off although I'm working Saturday morning.
I have the normal "to do" list but will just potter along and do what I can, the washing is up to date as I've been doing a load either last thing at night or first thing in the morning, and pegging it out before I leave for work and it's been dry every day. It makes such a difference as I'm not rushing round Wednesday evening/Thursday morning when I've finished for the week trying to get a full dirty wash basket emptied, washed, dried and ironed in one go!
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Just in from cycle ride along the prom, so nice when you go by people and we all say good morning, must be the sun brings out the best in us!
Camelot, Ive seen Abfab , really enjoyed it for its silliness if that makes sense.
Off today to do two hours in a pop up charity shop, raising money for cancer, really enjoyed it on Tuesday, then meeting with family and friends tonight in Margate to enjoy a glass of something and the amazing sunset (hopefully)
Have a good day all, thinking of you Lainey, and your Mum.
Enjoy the holidays JackieO, coming to Westgate?

Morning all, it is a nice clear day here, so far, warm but not overpoweringly so. OH has done his spiderman impression and climbed out of the window to put washing on the line. I bet he regrets saying that he thought he'd be able to get out that way when I pointed out that without access to the washing line, he'd be the one driving miles to the nearest launderette. Ho hum.
I am starting to feel a bit more human, slept for most of yesterday afternoon, slept on and off in the night though in the spare bedroom as I've been restless and coughing at night which was disturbing for OH.
Last few days have been quite inexpensive as I've not been out, and our shopping tends to be done at the weekend mostly. I top up if we need fresh veg in the week but we've managed with existing supplies this week. We do eat a lot of veg and salad.
LaineyT I hope your mum feels better, and hope Evie is the vet.
I will have a tidy round in a bit but that's all I have the energy for today. That and being glued to Rightmove.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
