Camper van holiday in August

My FIL has offered to lend OH and myself his camper van as a cheap holiday idea, we have two small babies so caravans/ lodges/ camper vans etc with our own space are much easier than hotels! I've never used one before and am now faced with finding somewhere to stay last minute, as OH has taken the first week in August off work :eek: could anyone point me towards a site they've stayed in and can recommend?

DS1 has a hospital appointment on August 2nd, so we'd probably have to go Friday - Monday only, or Wednesday - Monday if any sites allow it (I have no idea how these things work!).

We'd like somewhere within a couple of hours' travelling distance of Hertfordshire - any further than that is tricky with the babies - and ideally with a pool on site or nearby.

Any help would be much appreciated

Find a location which interests you then Google for campsites nearby. Don't go too far from home as you can then beat a retreat if things are not to your liking. Be prepared to improvise as you are likely to have forgotten things. It is not worth joining the Caravan Club or the Camping and Caravan Club for a one off visit, but both cubs allow non-members on some sites, you just pay a little more than members. Their sites are usually of a good standard but will generally not have swimming pools or bars/restaurants. Enjoy your holiday

You can do a search on here within a certain mile radius and select the facilities you require. Lots of reviews of different sites.
