Barclaycard Underwriters

My claim for PPI has been rejected as they have told me it was never applied to my account - I just need to know who underwrites Barclaycard (they won't give me the company name)?

Why would you approach the Barclay's Underwriter? Barclay's accept liability for the sale and have rejected your complaint. Your only realistic option now is to refer your complaint to the Ombudsman. I can't see any success down ANY route if you didn't actually have any PPI, though?

It doesnt matter as you have no right to complain to them. It was an own product product retailed via themselves. So, the underwriter route doesnt apply.

If you never paid PPI, why are you complaining about it?

Because that answer doesn't give a fat check

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If there was never a policy then there was also never an underwriter.
  • Because this is the advice I got from this website, F&Q -
If your bank says you didn't have PPI, as a backup you can ask who it used as its underwriter (the company that decides whether you're eligible for the insurance). You can then contact this organisation directly to see if a policy exists.

You didn't have PPI, you aren't going to get a refund of something you never paid, give it up instead of pursuing a waste of time wild goose chase trying to prove you had a policy so you can try and reclaim in

  • You haven't answered my question. So are you saying the advice on this website is rubbish?

That is incorrect in cases that are in respect of banks. It applies to some store cards and loans bought via other means.

It is not rubbish but like many articles on this site, it is not as comprehensive as it should be and that leads to generalisations which can be incorrect. That is the case here.

No - we are saying that asking for the underwriter of a policy that didn't exist is rubbish.

It is a bit like asking who scored the winning goal for England against Italy in the Euro 2016 final. There is no answer because the game never happened.
