Scam seller has provided fake tracking number in paypal dispute

Hope Im not jumping the gun here but I believe I am in the process of trying to deal with a 'professional' scam seller (maybe hijacked account)
In summary :
Bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122043458228
Seller confirmed dispatch on 13/7/16 - apparently using hermes
seller had 100% +ve feedback at the time
a day or so later I noticed seller changed his id & stopped selling
which looked a bit suspicious - also his auctions seemed to be dispatching from multiple different countries (eg UK for my item) despite him being a chinese registered seller which again was a bit odd
Monitored the situation & suddenly everybody started leaving -ve feedback http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/aassdw2
when i saw this I immediately decided to open a dispute - as I wasnt able to open a dispute in ebay yet I opened one in paypal instead
same day (today) I opened the dispute seller has responded with a royal mail tracking number i.e.
https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item?trackNumber=JJ469028168GB
this package is showing as 'ready for delivery'
Given the feedback being left for him I strongly suspect that either this item is not something coming to my own address (I have heard that scammers send an empty box to another address on the same street so I cant reject it - to paypal it looks as if its been delivered to me as its an address on my street) or he will send me an empty box (which I can reject)
I said in the title 'fake' tracking number but obviously its a real tracking number for what I strongly suspect is an empty package that may not even be addressed to me
When I look at the paypal dispute there is a 'respond' button but I am not able to add any further information - my only options to 'cancel claim' or 'change your reason for this claim' if I received an item not as described
ANy advice on what I should do ? - Im guessing phone paypal & royal mail ?

We received item JJ469028168GB at Tyldesley DO on the 2016-07-20. The item is now ready for delivery.
Is Tyldesley near you?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
nowhere near me - wasnt sure of that was just the dispatch depot i.e. if its getting routed to another later
if that is the delivery depot it makes proving its a fake tracking number easier
probably still need to ring paypal though as a machine might auto close in hsi favour when tracking shows as delivered0 -
Always wondered about that myself, show tracking for anything and if it works can they get away with it?
You may need to phone several times to get someone with a brain.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The automated process on Paypal will possibly rule in favour of the seller if this parcel status changes to delivery. Your best bet is to RING Paypal and explain that the DO on the tracking is nowhere near you. If the feedback is to be believed, there will be multiple cases on Paypal/Ebay. Paypal staff are very fraud aware and if they can see lots of claims it may be that your case will be handled there and then on the phone.0

yes phoning paypal did the job - was told it would be closed down in my favour shortly
not a very clever scammer - entering a tracking number for a parcel delivered to a different area of the country - only slim chance he had was to have it leaving from my local delivery depot0 -
I am having the exact same problem with the exact same seller.
I googled the seller to see if I could get anymore information and came across this thread.0 -
