''The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) could drop next year's High Court test case over bank overdraft charges, a senior official has said.''

Hmmmm this is why the Stays are a waste of time in plain English....
Could that page be used with the below highlighted in our own court cases or when trying to get Stays lifted?
"the judge will not be asked to rule on whether bank charges are legal or fair."0 -
Could this mean that the banks get away with offering super low charges/interest rates etc and then not have to even look at the past cases???0

A predictable KOP out. They should have kept their brown noses out of it.0

interesting news
thanks op
sounds like there is a lot going on behind the scenesI always wanted to be a procrastinator, never got round to it...0 -
What I find troubling is the remark that the OFT agrees in most instances that the charges are not penalties. However they are still unfair. How do they come to that conclusionAs I am not the Pope or legally qualified I may be wrong so feel free to get a second opinion from a qualified person0

I agree with that, Stokey. This is beginning to look like one almighty farce in the making. Just how much is this 'compromise' figure likely to be, if it's agreed on before a trial, and in whose favour? The OFT should have the backbone to see this through; if they cop out now without any clear, fair resolution they'll be an utter laughing stock.0

So if thats the case where the OFT looks to be backing off with the banks.
Where does that leave us with the claims either in the Courts or this so called test case which the banks are waiting for, before proceeding any further with the claims.
What do we do now??0
