Windows 10 - and office 10 - now resolved

While I am trying to update my desktop to Windows 10, prior to updating my laptop, which is now my master pc, and going around the houses with the errors, Microsoft have now seriously affected my laptop.
Overnight I downloaded the windows updates, as per normal, however, when I restarted, first of all it will not open my Office applications, saying it cannot confirm it is a real version (it is), and showed a screen saying it had tried to update to Windows 10 on my laptop, without a request to do so, and it had failed, no surprise there, but now, my laptop has lost all its network connections, if it was just reconnecting to wi-fi or lan, no problem, but no it has lost all the network adaptors. Therefore, I have stopped the face on the desktop, as now need it to try to sort my laptop.
I have re-booted, but no difference.
Help!!

Hi, sorry to hear about your problems - WIndows 10 upgrade can be a nightmare when it goes wrong ..
First off, im not sure what you mean by "stopped the face on my desktop" ..
But can you go into device manager, and look at "Network adapters" .. Do any show with exclamation marks on them ?

There are no network adapters, most services are disabled, and when I try to restart the network ones, it does not give me the option, I have looked at system restore to yesterday, and nothing there either. I wouldn't mind if I had tried to update to Windows 10 on the laptop, but I haven't.
Sorry just typing to fast for my brain, I stopped the process it was supposedly downloading Windows 10 on my desktop, so I can use it.
Thanks

What do you see here, if you see nothing then click action and scan for hardware changes.
I am assuming you have tried both direct Ethernet and Wifi and that your wifi is activated on the laptop and you haven't accidentally turned off wif via the laptop wifi switch.

No, haven't tried ethernet, as there are no options to connect to. No not accidentally turned off. When I search for wifi connections, it says no connections available but I am using it on the desktop.
It just gives me help, and no other options.

1) As so many services were disabled, I have gone through matching were possible with the desktop those which needed to be enabled, matching Auto/Auto delay/Manual, and starting where possible.
2) Backed up the few this week files not backed up, I have several backups.
3) Looked inside c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution\Updates and made a copy of the updates from last night.
4) Started a usb download of Windows10 on the desktop, following the link on a post on here.
The services have resolved it, and not I have my wifi connection back, and office will open.
I will just leave this thread in case it happens to anyone else.

And for the benefit of anyone else:
My desktop refused to upgrade to Windows 10, constantly reverting to Windows 7. I followed the advice given on the net to disconnect Everything except mouse, keyboard and monitor and to disable antivirus. Result - PC totally shredded. No operating system, no ability to recognise recovery, devices disabled. Had to reinstall Windows 7 from disk (sigh of relief when I found it). I then went online with Microsoft who took control of my machine and spent several hours fixing it - all for free and they installed 10 for me too.
The problem seems to have been with incompatible drivers. There is no way I could have sorted it out myself.0
