Morning :hello:
Hope you feel better soon ancientofdays xx
redruby I worked in a kitchen where the rule was, if it reached 100°F we could go home, not sure if it was their rule or the law though. Can't be the law, I worked in a school kitchen for a couple of years and parents wouldn't be happy if we starved their kids, lol. We definitely had extra breaks once it reached a certain temp. A couple of us decided to put the temp probe in the fryer and showed it to the boss, she just rolled her eyes, laughed and sent us outside with a drink to cool off
Speky Scampi's fine with storms, and he seems fascinated by lightning. He's OK with loud noises, it's small things he kicks off at – a barely audible (to humans) car door closing somewhere up the road, etc.
We were supposed to have a storm last night but it didn't happen, much to my disappointment!
Master tru and his apprentice were working on a roof yesterday, they stuck it out til 1pm then gave up and came home. I don't know how they lasted that long, I was struggling at 11am in the shade. They'll be back up there this morning, they're hoping to last a bit longer today but will see how it goes.
I've just done a load of washing, it'll probably dry in about 10 minutesI haven't planned past our walk, what I do – or don't do! - depends on how muggy it is. I'm waiting for the road to go quiet, going out early yesterday was a mistake because it was too busy and Scampi couldn't cope with all the people and traffic. So today's walk will be hot and calm, much better than cool and manic

Morning
Didn't sleep so well last night, DH decided he was awake at 5.40 so went & made tea. I was asleep again by the time he brought them upstairs, and drank my cold tea after being woken up by thunder at 8am
Still warm here, with rain lashing down. Need to go & water the greenhouses - at least the allotment won't need watering today!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

It is a bit cloudy here and not too hot. I got up early as builders are due today but they have not arrived yet.
I put a chicken in cola in the slow cooker around eight o' clock this morning as it felt too hot to use the oven. If it is cooked by lunchtime then I can carve it, put in fridge in portions and use it cold with salad or in a stir fry or pasta dish over the next day or so.
I still have asparagus to use so thinking chicken and asparagus pasta might be nice.
The two sun loungers I ordered a couple of days ago arrived last night and need to be unpacked later and there are still boxes to go through but finally feel progress is being made.
Hugs to all and take care in the heat."This site is addictive!"

Hello again, it is a bit cooler and a lovely breeze has started up, I don't think we are meant to have storms quite yet, and i certainly don't think Obe can be imminent because I usually feel jumpy and odd (odder than usual) bit like a dog.
Tru, I think there is a minimum work temperature but no maximum, which does seem odd. My team has been moved from pillar to post and now that we are in our permanent place, I expect we'll have to up sticks again soon. In our last place, the air con was not very good (worse than current office) and I remember someone ringing the union about it, and that was the response we got. Presumably it must all be perfectly fine until some unfortunate person spontaneously combusts.
I am going to make a pizza later. While the dough proves, may have a nap.
My DS has just had a go at me for moving his stuff on the bathroom shelf, he says it is now in the sun an will go funny. So I bit him.
That last sentence is a lie.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Afternoon, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
It was quite bright and sunny thhis morning, I put a mixed laod in the washer, and it was dry in less than an hour, left it out for a bit longer because I could not be bothered to un peg it and fold it up.
Helped OH to put the cover on the green house we moved to the side of the house. He has been moaning at me all week to do it. Drives me nuts. It put it on and tied it down, then whilst eating his lunch he moaned that he did not think it was on right as the top was sagging. I reminded him that the cover was polythene which stretches in the sun.. and walked out into the garden with my tea.
It is muggy but we have quite a strong breeze and we keep getting dark clouds scudding over. I will be so glad if it rains as long as its not the 'bash everything down' kind of rain. It tokk me an hour last night to water even with OH doing the pots for me.
I need to make cake and scones, we have friends coming on Friday for tea and to look at the garden.........it can wait till tomorrow.0 -
Hi everyone,
Hugs to all the poorly folks xx
I spent two hours at A&E with DS1 last night as he sliced his shoulder blade open on some glass at the park. They steri-stripped and glued it. Lovely people on duty and only a two hour wait which was good as it was rammed! DH said the interview went ok and thank you for all the good wishes it is much appreciated.
Just finished work and the children had an early finish from school, so we will eat out later to celebrate end of term and good reports
Need to put some washing on. Too hot to think about housework although I did defrost the freezer yesterday which I can recommend in this heat - it was lovely being amongst the ice!!
Have a good afternoon all

Spent some time re-arranging the furniture - Plan B just didn't look good so I'm back to Plan A. Now waiting for the 'man who can' to come and put the table together. Think the lovely coffee table with two underlings won't fit anywhere now
:( it' a shame but all for the greater good I suppose. I need thinner / smaller ones now.
See, changing one thing creates so many more 'problems' than leaving it all be. Never happy! :rotfl:
Actually, I''m really happy with the new space, room is now square so it'll only take some fiddling around to make it all lovely. Got vacuumed under and behind the two sofas and chair for the first time in ages so that's a bonus.
Rain dried up and it's surprisingly warm still. I've only been into town to draw out the money to pay the builder as he's bound to call round tonight.
Speky - take a plastic bottle of frozen water to work and put it in front of the fan. Then it'll be moving cooled air around and not just the warm air in the room already. That's what the hospital staff did when I had my appendix out a few years ago and was burning up a fever beforehand.0 -
Mum now back in her own home, we stopped on the way to pick up provisions for next couple of days, she more or less went straight to bed when we got there so opened what windows we could and left her to rest.
Speky jury is still out on new manager, he watched me struggle with answering all absent colleague's phones this morning and didn't lift finger to help, think he is used to bigger organisation where there is plenty of minions for such lowly tasks! And then asked me question at 1.55 which involved me staying past leaving time, hmmm
Coxy ouch on DS's shoulder and glad to hear that DH's interview went well.
Off to see Bill now, have a good evening everyone x0 -
COXY hope your son feeling better now and isn't in pain.
Been Awol again as daughter's work placement is only 10 till 2 but Friday there was no one to supervise her so was home by 1 and the same today. However she doesn't think to text me so just appears home and scares me.
The weather has been to hot and yesterday me and a friend sat outside in Wetherspoons beer garden having our coffees. It was lovely and shady as there is a big shelter. I had prepared 2 lasagne by 8.30. It was my son's 17 birthday yesterday but due to activities just had a normal tea, takeaway of his choice tomorrow. We changed our route round town so as our frozen food didn't melt or my insulin get to warm.
Thunder rumbling around at moment but no lightning or rain yet. Son just announced that due to weather footie practice cancelled so no rush to do stir fry just yet.
Hugs to those who want/need them.0 -
Evening all
Thankfully much cooler here today, and I managed a quick paddle in the sea after dropping OH off to work.
I had a day full of appointments and things to do - midwife appt, acupuncture appt, post office, mini food shop, fetched a parcel, vets, measured for nursing bras. I had a nap when I got home! Need to go out again shortly to pick up OH and his kids (he had a pool car today from work but can't bring it home).
Nothing OS here today apart from coming home to make a sandwich for lunch rather than buy something out. However yesterday I made all the cushion covers for the nursing chair and footstool :T. I did cheat though and used extra strong fabric glue rather than sew them. I had no patience to learn how to use the sewing machine I've been lent, and needed it done before baby comes! :rotfl:. They seem to have stuck really well. I made them envelope style so they are removable in case of baby accidents! I just need to sew some tie ribbons to them so they fix to the chair but will do that once OH has brought the chair up to the nursery.
