O/S Daily Thread for Wednesday 20th July 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
I thought I'd enjoy a few moments of cool this morning as I'm sure it will heat up soon.
I felt sorry for my hubby and his team yesterday not only were they moving heavy furniture around they were dealing with 'Put it there.' 'No, try it over there' 'No actually try it there'. They were all exhausted by the end.
I have apple juice for my DGC this morning and some fromage frais as I noticed there was none in the fridge yesterday. I also have uniform for DGS, he breaks up today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning, still pretty hot here, washing will go on the line by means if OH climbing in and out of sitting room windows. Nobody has been to fix (again) the back door, letting agents happy to take the money each month but not to arrange essential repairs. The agents have full management. I am just hoping an ok house comes up for sale quickly now. Never again.
Still feeling like a piece of worn out elastic, croak, snuffle, sneeze. Slept in spare room last night though I had to move a lot of stuff first, as the window opens in there, in our room the windows catch is broken. It can be very noisy as that's the street side but by then, I was so tired that I think I would have slept quite well in Pica dilly Circus. But midges have whizzed in and I have a big bite near my eye. That won't last long.
I think my orchid likes this weather, buds opening most days, and normally I am not very good with orchides.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off again x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, but overcast and very hot and humid, have a load in the WM, hope to get that out before I go to work.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. Both boys still in their pits. They are going out today to visit a friend.
Dinner last night was spag. bol, DH moaned as soon as he walked in the door, I didn't get into a argument about it, just can't be bothered anymore, I just said if you don't like/want what I cook, maybe I'll just not bother then and didn't say anything more. I have already got chicken out of the freezer and if it's defrosted I'll do something with it tonight not sure what as yet.
Work wasn't overly busy, but steady. Working all day again today, I'm waiting to hear for definite regarding the extra hours.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.
Sorry to hear you're still not too well AoD.
Yesterday was a glorious day. My second table arrived early in the morning so I went up to Oban for a couple of things. Later, when the postie came he told me that today was to be very wet so I went out to cut the grass. It was still damp but in need of a cut as it was long in places. I've been treating it with stuff which appears to be working a treat.
Later I did the first re-arrange of the living room furniture but I'm not happy with it. Even though the table isn't up yet I can see it wont all fit / look right. Back to plan A today.
I woke at 3am because I was so hot, changed my pj top for a short sleeved T shirt and put on the dehumidifier. Thunder was rolling around the sky for a lot of the night.
Today looks grey. I'm staying in bed a bit longer.
Happy Wednesday everyone.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I didn't sleep very well due to the heat so I shall definitely be nanna napping later on. Hubby has gone to work and it's just DD13 going to school today as DD15 isn't feeling very well. I have heard from DD16 a couple of times. I think she is struggling a bit but I've told her to try and enjoy herself, she will be home in a couple of days.
I have the windows wide open and the fan on but it is still so warm. I just sat for most of yesterday evening with a damp cloth on my forehead as I felt like I was going to melt. Hopefully it won't be so warm today as it is quite cloudy out there.
I am going to make a curry for tea with the last of the leftover chicken. My honey and mustard sauce was very bland so I shall go back to the drawing board for that one. There is still some leftover so I shall mix it up with a bit of pasta for lunch.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Bit more cloud around today but still v hot and humid and hard to sleep.
Mum seems better in the morning but gradually deteriorates during the day, she went up to lay on her bed yesterday at just gone five and didn't come down again. Put the fan in her room and made sure she had plenty of water, she did eat a dry biscuit at nine to take her AB.
We are taking her back to bungalow today so she is ready for her friend to take for scan tomorrow, I can't take the time off as it's literally just me and the new manager in work. He seems incapable of picking up a phone to help so should be fun
Hope you feel better soon AOD, rotten luck when it's so hot x
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
Morning all,
Another hot humid day here Its just too hot for me, it would be fine if I were not at work but at times yesterday it got up to 45 degrees in the kitchen
it was just too much, Specky thanks for that info, will remember that !
Mums for dinner tonight I hope its nothing too hot or in a sauce whatever it is will be lovely and saves me cooking.
Evie has the vet tomorrow for another check up and she has to have her boosters, poor dog will hate that vet :rotfl: I shall be glad when she can go out for a proper walk as she is hyper with all the inactivity !
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all,
I get slack for saying it but I love the thunder and lightning. I'm the only person in the office so far this morning and I've sat with the window open watching and listening. Prefer this to yesterdays heat wave, I was drenched in sweat just sitting at my desk. Not comfortable.
As I allude to, yesterday was a difficult day at work with the heat. We've no air con and there was no breeze coming through the windows so the 2 fans we had just turned over hot air. I got home and thought I'd mop the floors thinking that the heat would dry them out quicker. The GF and I then went a little cycle for a half hour.
As I didn't manage to my friends gym yesterday, I've promised I'll go today after work which I'm looking forward to then i'm not too sure what the plan is for the rest of the night.
Lainey - How is things with the new boss?

Morning All
Hope you feel better soon AOD.
Those temperatures are far too much RR, take care.
Just too hot here yesterday, had to put the sun lounger in the tiny bit of shade we had and keep coming indoors. I did manage to rake and cut the grass - just as well as it is absolutely bouncing with rain out there with thunder and lightening rolling about - I'm like you Speky, love to watch and listen. It is still very warm and sticky.
I've cut out another bag to make, this one with a lining (should be interesting) so I'll do that when I've been swimming as there's not much to be done outside in this weather and no shopping to get. Washing can wait till a better day.
Hoping you all get better weather than here, take care. XX0
