Recommended Hotels in Cologne, Germany

Hi,

I'm off to Cologne for a couple of nights this weekend (14th & 15th Sept) and am looking for recommentdations for somewhere to stay. We don't mind being on the edge of town (as long as it's connected by tram, train or bus to the city centre in less than 15 mins), ideally needs to be less than £80 a night for two people (room only or B&B) and I like places that are clean and comfortable - extravagance not required!;)

Thx in advance!

Caz

  • I stayed at the Hotel Flandishier Hoff (i think i spelt it correctly) it was a lovely hotel and quite central, walking distance to most of the sight seeing places and some nice bars and resturants nearby. The hotel itself was spotless and clean. I would highly recommend it. It was a couple of years ago that i visited and i remember the cost was £88 per person b & b for two nights including flights from East Midlands Airport, we found the hotel on the easy jet website.

Try http://www.accorhotels.com - various prices and standards

I have stayed in the Novotel in Koln and it is very good.

Failing that try the Ryanair website lots of accomodation at varying prices.

    Hope you find something

  • I've stayed in Cologne a few times. I can recommend the Sofitel Dorrint(?) Dom, next to the Cathedral. They do very good weekend rates, and it really is a great hotel. They serve the best breakfasts I have ever had (leave it late and take advantage of a bucks fizz).

I've also once stayed at the Cyrstal on a very quick one night stay. It was ok, but I could not get beyond a bad smell that started in reception and stayed right through the hotel (even in the rooms). It just put me off a bit!

The good news is that the Germans do everything to high standards, so if you find what looks half decent, at a good price - you can rest assured it will be alright.

    Enjoy.

Think Caz may have already left for Cologne. Wonder if she took any of our recommendations?
