Alarm System DIY

Apologies if I have posted this in the incorrect forum.
I currently have a alarm system and want to add a door contact, now I have contacted a few alarm companies and I have been quoted over £100. I have checked Amazon and door contacts are as cheap as £5.
Now the question is should I do it myself or pay an engineer?

How long is a piece of string?
Depends what you electrical skills are like, how the existing alarm is configured, how you want to add the extra door contacr, whether you have the installation manual and do you know the installers password?
If it's just one more door contact on an existing entry/exit zone then it's not that difficult - wire the new contact in series with the existing door contacts, and then wire the anti-tamper in series with the rest. If you're adding a new zone, or changing existing zones you'll need the manual and the installer password.0
