Post Office Car Insurance Claim Aegis vs Enterprise car rental ?!?

Options
Hi All, just had someone reverse into my car, his fault, he accepted liability .. called post office insurance and gave the details .. they then informed me that if I got through the underwriter (Aegis) then I would probably be liable for the excess ? which I couldn't understand .. then they said, alternatively I could go through Enterprise Car Rental who would claim all the costs back from the other guys insurance .. to me .. that sounds weird .. why would I have to pay excess if it was someone elses fault if I go through Aegis and what is this Enterprise car rental sham ? anyone have any back ground on this ?

Any help greatly appreciated, just want my car fixed
Cheers Mark

When you took out the policy, you agreed to pay the first £xx of each claim. If someone else is at fault for the claim, you can recover it and other uninsured losses from them
  • right, ok, so, even if I go with my underwriter then as I have legal cover they can get the excess back for me ?

Legal cover usually includes uninsured loss recovery. There is never a guarantee they will be successful though.
  • great, thank you.

You could also go direct to the other party's insurer and see if they have an innocent third party claim team.

They could arrange repairs and provide a hire car without any outlay from you.
