Here's an idea... stick america cup portsmouth into google and see what you get.
When I tried that, this was the first result:0 -
We went last year, if you want to see the boats (without buying a ticket) the best view would be from the beach between Clarence Pier and the Blue Reef. However I imagine this view will still be quite restricted if the sailing is further out into the Solent.
You would also need to get there quite early as it was packed last year.
Another option would be the area of beach behind the Pyramids.
Some people said that they had a good view of the boats leaving the harbour by standing along the "hot walls" by the Square Tower. Obviously it won't be quite as exhilarating as watching the racing...
The Red Bull Matadors were great last year, I would like to see them again, as well as the Red Arrows of course!
I suppose it does depend where you are coming from, and how much you love sailing. Unfortunately, it does look like you have to purchase a ticket to access the entertainment on land.
Feel free to ask more questions, hopefully I have been more help than wealdroam0 -

I went to Gosport waterfront yesterday to watch the excellent Red Arrows display.
I was given a hard copy of the link at #2. It's useful, but there are no specific timings other than Saturday and Sunday both start @ 1100 and finish @ 1800.
Gosport was packed out yesterday, so goodness knows what it was like on Clarence and Southsea seafronts. It's only 0830 and roasting already.0
