Fresh yeast on delayed setting in breadmaker

I just wondered if anyone had tried this. After reading masses of posts here, I spotted one that said you could use fresh yeast without starting it up first. I tried it today, and the loaf has turned out well.
I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work, if the yeast is nowhere near the liquid.
I can't afford to risk being breadless in the morning, but I just wondered if anyone had tried this.
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find it.
Thanks

I've never tried it either.
I know that fresh yeast is not normally recommended for breadmakers, but I've found that if started in warm water with a bit of sugar first - it works well for a loaf made "on the spot".
I'm surprised to learn here that it will work on its own in a BM without being started.
I'm guessing now that if it does work in your BM that way, then it should also work on a timed program IF, as you say, you keep it away from the water. And I'd keep it away from both the sugar and the salt too. Sugar because you may end up with froth bubbling out of the BMand salt because it kills the yeast. (just for those who don't know already)

Just posting back to say that I've used fresh yeast on a 10-11 hour delay in the breadmaker and the loaves have turned out fine. I just plonked the yeast on top of the flour, away from the salt and sugar. I've done it 3 times now, and it's worked each time.
I have to admit that I wasn't quite sure what I'd wake up to, but it's worked for me. :T0 -
