We love Turkey too but glad we're going to Spain this year - it's a bit unsettled out there!
I'm divorced as are a lot of my friends. Maybe your ex wife needs to think about getting a job, I thought my ex was decent but I think she's taking the Michael, you pay ALL that! Wow!
I have 2 teenage boys and get £300 a month and half towards big school residential trips. He buys (or rather his mum) them the odd bit of clothing and pays for one child's haircut (I pay the other child's) and that's it! I pay my own mortgage/bills/uniform/ dinner money, extra bits for school, taxi services, pocket money and 2 mobile phone bills.
You need to seriously look at what you're giving her!
Have a lovely holiday0 -
MyLastFiver wrote: »Thanks for that - I'll have a look at Wikivorce.
I don't feel like I'm being over generous - my wife gave up her job when we had kids. When we separated she couldn't have managed the bills on her own so it was worth it to ensure her and the kids had stability and security.
It is very generous as you only need to pay one or the other. I won't go any further into detail here as it is definitely a Wikivorce discussion. P.S. Sorry it took me so long to respond and now I have taken the talk out of order..Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -

I'm divorced too and was left to pay the mortgage and bills with no job and three children. I was very surprised at how generous the welfare system was. I receive/d minimum child maintenance and the children get a small amount of money for birthdays and Christmas but nothing else. I can see a few issues rearing their heads on the OPs current set up.Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -
Hi there, great start to your new diary, I'm Kim and I'm also a single parent- it's tough clearing debt on one income and at times I struggle but iT is do- able. Have you posted up a SOA on the debt free wonnabe board, loads of great tips too on the old style boards.
Good luck in getting back to black Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0 -
MyLastFiver wrote: »Right, well, grabbed a few bits for my holiday in the Next sale and we're off to Turkey tonight.
Yeah yeah I know, but it was booked months ago and we won't be spending much while we're there. It's half board so most food is taken care of, we don't drink a lot, we don't need our house filling with any more souvenir tat, and swimming in the sea is free :-)
Micro-moan: As well as the child maintenance and half the mortgage, I pay for my kids' coats, shoes, school trips, haircuts, and buy them clothes as and when they need them. I gave my STBEW some money for haircuts over a month ago and she still hasn't taken them to the barber's! She doesn't have a job and the barber's is 200 yards from her house. Our youngest looks like a scarecrow. I reminded her this morning, so we'll see.
i go through this every school hols my ex gets maintaineance and i transfer over an extra tenner too take my boy too the barbers she never takes him. I started ever time i have him taking him too the barbers myself,i have being in the same boat as you. I missed getting my boy at easter due too work/not being able too get time off net result my ex sent my boy up looking like a girl.
I went ballistic. Take them yourself dont give your ex the money the only way you can get around itdebts 16550
