Just looking for a wee bit of advice as over the last 3 months or so both my mum and my mother-in-law's emails appear to have been hacked and are sending out viruses to their contacts with their names/email addresses in the subject but the email isn't actually coming from their addresses.
We have changed passwords, ran virus scans, etc. but I've just discovered the most recent email from the mother-in-law from Thursday.
Now, they have no link to each other and neither has the other's email address in their contacts or even at all, however, they both have Virgin Media as their ISP and email provider. It's got me thinking that it's a bit of a coincidence that it's started for both of them around the same time, could this be something linked to Virgin or is it purely a coincidence? My dad did try and speak to Virgin about my mum's account but said they were no help at all.
Also, does anyone have any advice on the best steps to stop this happening?

Their is probably nothing you can go at your end.
The spammers probably got a list of email addresses and stuck random ones in the "From:" bit and sent it out to everyone else in the list.
Just make sure the passwords are secure and run anti-virus and anti-malware just in case.Laters

Thanks. Is this still the case even though it seems to be their individual contacts the emails are being sent to?0
