Gloss paint prep

Hi I have a mix of sanded gloss paint and wood with the paint burnt off and then the wood sanded
Do I just wipe with a damp cloth or wipe over with some white sprit before painting?
Thanks

Either or don't really matter. What primer are you using oil or water based.

You'll need to prime and undercoat any bare wood before glossing.

A lot of primers are sold as primer/undercoats, so you can probably get away with only two different paints, but on bare wood you definitely need to use a suitable primer and not just get straight in with the gloss. The finish coat paints just don't stick properly to bare wood, so the primer is there to soak into the wood and give a suitable surface for painting.

There are a few paints like Zinsser All Coat that claim to be self-priming, but even they recommend spot priming knots and using a separate primer on unpainted cedar, redwood and other resinous timbers.

A good primer and then undercoat will mean you only need one coat of gloss.

I have only used undercoat and then gloss on all of my bare wood. 1 coat of each, and ALL of them still look great.

Just make sure you use decent paint. I used Dulux undercoat and Dulux professional liquid gloss.
