Utility bills conundrum

Hello. I will be moving into a house with friends for my second year at uni but have a question about paying utility bills and joint accounts.
I have decided not to be part of the joint account my friends are setting up to pay for the various bills in case of default payments as I want to keep my credit history clean.

If my name is listed on the utility provider's bill, and a payment has been missed, will I still be liable/blacklisted for this missed payment even though I am not part of the joint account?

Hope someone can help with an answer! Thanks.

Yes you will, the method of repayment is irrelevant. The simple answer is to make sure no payments are missed - it sounds like there are only two payment sources, the joint account and yourself, so it shouldn't be difficult to ensure.
