re. Thameslink to Luton airport

I have only once before flown from Luton and I vowed never to do it again. A large section of the Thameslink line was closed over New Year and the bus shuttle started too late for me. Had to pay for a taxi so vowed never to fly from Luton again! I am now planning a flight to Berlin (Easyjet) and have found that the flight timings and prices are better from Luton so my question is as follows. Was I just unlucky at the time? How good is the bus connection from the station to the airport? I had a long wait last time if I remember correctly. I have no problem getting to St Pancras.

I have never had any problems from St Pancras to Luton and vise versa as a general journey and if your previous travel was some time ago they have since built a dedicated route for the bus upto the airport from airport parkway station - i have not used it myself but would imagine it is fairly quick0

More significant would be to decide not to fly at New Year, or around any public holiday, which is when Network Rail plan their largest programmes of work and delays are pretty likely.0

I took the train both ways last week. One was about 15 mins late, fine other than that.0

Where do you live? Last time I flew from Luton I took a taxi from my flat in north London. Took under an hour and cost about £50. Worth it to save the hassle IMO, especially with luggage.0

I am in E17. I'm not a great fan of taxis. Never have been. I'd rather spend the same money on a budget hotel near the airport the night before. I have done that several times near Gatwick and Heathrow. My luggage will be light for this trip. I'm only going for 3-4 nights.0
