in Credit cards
Hi all,
My partner received his card today and was surprised to see that it does not offer the contactless payments facility. All the rest of our credit cards do. It's obviously not a big deal but we were just intrigued to know whether there is a set criteria on issuing contactless cards I.e. if Nationwide think you don't have a good credit history they won't offer you the contactless facility.
Thanks in advance

Nobody has a contactless Select card as far as I'm aware.
"Contactless cards are available on FlexAccount, FlexDirect, FlexOne and FlexPlus accounts."

My Select Credit Card doesn't have contactless, neither does my FlexAccount.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest.0 -
For a debit card, or low limit credit card, it would be based on credit history.
Select card isn't exactly 'easy' to get, so as others have said I'd imagine it's the same across the board.
Contactless is liability of £30 (multiplied by 5 or 10 if you go on a spending spree before it does an online auth I guess) - credit limits on mainstream cards are nearly always £500+0 -
Nobody has a contactless Select card because Nationwide don't currently provide contactless on any of their credit cards, they only provide contactless on their debit cards.
They are hoping to introduce contactless credit cards in the "not too distant future", but there's no date for it at the moment:

HSBC and First Direct don't have contactless credit cards either, only debit cards.0 -
