Hotels - Dubrovnik

I was told that Dubrovnik was relatively inexpensive.
Been looking on the usual hotel websites for two weeks all inclusive last two weeks in September, and they are coming up with well over £1,000 per person.
Am I missing something or are the hotels there expensive

How many hotels are you getting AI prices for?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I've just got back from my third trip to Dubrovnik, booked partly because it seemed very cheap previously. It didn't seem to be the case this time.
There are a whole range of Hotels at all price ranges, but like all things it depends on what facilities you want - I've stayed at the Ikva for £80 a night but doesn't come with a lot, and the Rixos at £160 which has everything.
If you're in a half decent hotel, then £150 all-inclusive might not be massively over-priced. That said, I didn't think AI was that common over there, so you might be paying a premium for it.0 -
Travel republic only pulled 11 results, on the beach three.
Even the hotels just offering breakfast, seemed pretty expensive0 -
Croatia is suffering from excess demand because so few people want to go to Greece, Turkey etc. Hotels put the prices up when demand is high and the supply of rooms is limited, it may be cheaper next year if Turkey etc are all seen as safe but anywhere that is considered safe now is very expensive0

If I was thinking about a holiday in Dubrovnik, then I'd check the Cruise Ship port programme first. No doubt that Dubrovnik's a nice place, but when 1000s of passengers off cruise ships invade at the same time then the place is saturated.0

Croatia is indeed growing in popularity, and even though still a newish destination for the Brits, it is a very popular one for the Germans/Austrians/Italians too.
We've decided to head North of Croatia and unsurprisingly, prices are dropping accordingly.0 -
It's also a fairly easy drive from southern Germany, Switzerland, Austria and northern Italy which makes it good value co,pared to flying for Brits.0

Try self catering instead of hotels, in terms of Croatia Dubrovnik is relatively expensive, seemed to me about the same price as the UK (not London) in the old town0

Have you looked at just outside Dubrovnik at places like Cavtat? It's just across the bay and only 20 minutes or so by bus.
Personally I prefer the North (Porec is nice) as more to do as can take the boat over to Venice, bus up to Trieste, up into Slovenia etc so might find something cheaper up there.0
