Boiler dangerous in house I've just purchased
Comments

The house is lovely
It has been looked after and we had no concerns
We had three engineers and they agreed that the boiler was unsafe
None said it could be repaired as it was so corroded inside
There was leaks from two places
The British Gas engineer wrote a report explaining the reasons he condemned the boiler
Why it was so dangerous and that t had not been serviced as declared0 -

If I were in your position I would be asking my solicitor to explain (a) what the purpose of getting the seller to state in writing that the boiler had been serviced and was on a service plan and (b) why I had no comeback against the seller given they misled me on believe the system was more likely to be in good condition than had they answered correctly.0 -
I've been in exactly your situation - advice from our solicitor was feel free to take to small claims but unlikely you'll see a penny (but then our property was almost a 'fire sale' and had dropped from 425k to 250k)
For me a costly lesson learned and if we ever do it again we'll be paying for a survey of heating system and not believing the forms completed by vendor
Good luck and keep us informed if you do go down the court route0 -
IF the boiler had been on a service plan, had been serviced and had been repaired to a satisfactory standard, how much would that have cost?
Service plan = ?
Repair cost = ?
The total would be the value of your claim against the seller.0 -

And the house was occupied previous to you buying it?0 -
You solicitor has told you loud and clear that you don't have a case here... have you asked him/her why?
Is there anything else you're not telling us, is there any chance you knew about the boiling was not working but went ahead with the purchase anyway?0 -

But the OP hasn't stated that the boiler wasn't working when they moved in.
All they said was they noticed that there was a water leak from it and that is when they called British gas.0
