As they are all backed up to Google Photos and on your PC, do you really need to fill up your laptop hard drive with them. You can just view them in GP and download as and when you need them.
Even better than using another HD to duplicate them yet again.

Get yourself a memory stick. Copy and paste a few time and job done.
    16GB is only £4.

If there are connect to same network. You should be able to set up share folder and drag it across.

This is what I've been doing when I have one or two folders to transfer.
But now I want to transfer all my photos and some videos.
The problem has always been that they don't transfer in a named folder but just as all the photos together without any folder names.

I've got a large number of photos which I want to copy from my desktop to my laptop. Probably over 20 Gb but I was trying to use Drop box, maybe doing it in two or more batches, but I see that Drop box will 'move' the photos not copy them.

I could do it all with the use of my mobile HDD but I've used Picasa to file the photos chronologically in folders and when I transfer using my HDD the folders are dispensed with.

I tried. briefly, google drive but that didn't appear to work any better as far as keeping folders go.

Any ideas how I might do this quickly.
    I'm non techie.

What Operating system are you using? win 7/ 8.1/ 10 ?

It should be the same for each version.

Try this to share your "Pictures" folder

    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/windows/how-share-folders-without-homegroups-in-windows-7-3434911/

Then go to the Laptop you want to store the pictures then open "explorer" then "networks" or "Browse Networks" (what ever it's called!!) then you should see your other PC listed.

Double click on it to see the shared folders. Double click on the folder to see what's in it and to test you can get access.

Then just go to "edit" then "Select all" then "Edit" then "Copy" (to be safe you'll just copy everything and manually delete once everything is OK)

Now on the laptop go to the folder you want to put them in.
Then go to "edit" then "Paste"

Then sit back and make a cup of tea/coffee or dinner while all 20Gb is transferred between machines.

Once your happy everything has moved over correctly you can go to the first PC and delete the contents of the Pictures folder and then remove the sharing of the folder.

What software are you using to copy? Are you not using Explorer and selecting the actual folders?

good opportunity to get a external hard drive/nas to centrally store all your multimedia. copy all media to that and then access via laptop/pc/phone/tablet. have google photos installed on all devices as additional access and backup
