Goldfish as table centres?!

Options
Omg! I've just heard about a guy who came home from a wedding with 10 goldfish because they'd been put in bowls on the tables and were hat going to be disposed of, probably via a flush afterwards!
What is the world co ing to that living creatures are just seen as disposable decorations? And what's next, kittens ?

Fish as a centre piece are fine - Properly presented on a bed of salad and a silver platter.

As live food to be eaten raw, no thanks.

You're right. It's irresponsible. I thought even fairgrounds stopped giving away goldfish as it's cruel.

Typical of the 'bridezilla' 'I want' culture that some modern weddings appear to have spawned

I doubt that they would come to much harm being in a bowl, with no filtration, for a short while, but being transferred, having their bowl tapped by inebriated idiots being put straight into tap water, would probably stress then so much that they won't live for long.

Some venues would not allow such decorations on the grounds of cruelty and danger (from broken glass).

There also appears to be an irresponsible seller (unless the buyer lied) as even Pets at Home ask how many fish are already in your tank and advise adding small numbers at a time.

I believe there was only ne in each bowl, one bowl per table , I think the most shocking thing is that they were bought with the intention of being thrown away at the end of the night.

Actually they would come to a lot of harm,if they had just been placed into the bowl with no regard for the chlorine in the water, and if the weather is hot, which it has been, there would be little oxygen and they would slowly suffocate.

Absolutely hideous and cruel idea. What on earth goes through people's minds that this is a suitable table decoration? Who knows what drunken idiots would drop into the bowls, and what sort of message does it give to people, when bowls are 100% unsuitable for fish.

As someone who has many goldfish in an 1800 gallon pond it makes me incredible angry.Good on the guy who brought them home,i hope he had somewhere suitable for them.

A friend of mine had to talk her daughter out of having this at her wedding so the idea is obviously being circulated somehow.

The daughter was supposedly an animal lover too.

Good for the guy that saved the fish. I wonder how many more have been thrown away or tortured by drunken guests.
