Holiday Accommodation with a baby

Thankyou Kynthia,
It was a small hotel / b&b with only a few rooms.
The fact that the baby monitor worked also indicates how close we were !

If it's a small hotel/b&b then how is it any different from them being upstairs at home or at a family members house? Certainly better than using the hotel listening service as at least it's tge parent listening continuously. Very judgemental.
Ok - for the hard of thinking:
Most family bedrooms don't have things like kettles in them
Bathrooms connecting to the bedroom (often without a door) - hot water. Drowning, scalding.
Pull cords on curtains - handy for swinging on ... and hanging yourself on.
Furniture not bolted to the wall - risk of toppling over.
No covers on electrical sockets.
Fixed hairdryer - another "toy" for a child to strangle themselves with.
Perhaps I just place my child's safety above my desire for a drink and a spot of "me time". And I'm sure the McCann's thought they were being good parents too.0 -

And the McCanns went across site to eat in a seperate resturaunt , which is a tad different from going downstairs in a bb which are often not much bigger then your normal family home
With a baby monitor, not only can you hear your baby, you can now days see them. I'm sure you would make the stairs before an 8 month old woke enough to climb out the cot and find the kettle...
When the kids were tots, we just let them stay up late if we were all sharing a room. They would fall asleep pretty quick and deeply, so putting the to on wasn't a problem.
Caravans did give us more flexibility but we would often find b&bs with family rooms which usually meant child's beds in a sectioned off area0 -

8mth old baby....
Monitor on, baby asleep, hear baby if they wake up, hear door/window if it opens.
I sit in the garden and need the monitor to hear my toddler, he's not even confined to a cot yet I feel he's safe.
I'd happily sit in a lounge or bar with him & his brothers asleep in a locked room upstairs in a small hotel or B&b. A large maze like travel lodge or similar would be a different story.0 -
My daughter and SIL have a 10 month old baby girl. We have done one centre parcs trip with them this year and they are doing another with the ILS. We have booked again for next year with separate bedroom for our DGD and as there are a few of us we can do a mixture of eating in (Centre Parcs does good lodge delivery service) and cooking in or eating out in shifts. Out of school hols though.
This time will be relatively short. Personally when our kids were small we knocked holidays on the head for a few years and stuck to day trips out with takeaways for a change. It was less hassle all round.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. The person who suggested leaving a child alone with just a monitor doesn't have a small baby - she has "children", so I would expect one at least to be far more mobile. How long do you think it takes for a child to hang itself from a curtain cord? Or to pull a chest of drawers over on top of themselves?
Each to their own, but we wouldn't have left a very young infant unattended. Let's face it, a holiday which includes an 8 month old is for the parents, not the child.0 -
Sun holidays can be very cheap, and available in school hols. We went last Oct half term, 2 bed caravan, spacious lounge, £80 total for 4 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids including the entertainment passes. We are going again Oct half term, this time with a baby too, £100 total for the 4 nights as it's a more expensive park.* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *
