Well, it's not been too bad since my last post, fine in the house until today...
Left for work at usual time, MIL popped in at dinner and he's torn the curtain and bracket down, chewed holes in the curtains and bled on it, shredded the carpet outside our bedroom door and been in another room and torn a blind down and chewed it!0 -
Damage focused around exits (doors and windows) can be a symptom of separation anxiety. Do you have a webcam or similar so you could record how he behaves when left home alone?0

No wonder the poor guy is confused ..lurchers are very sensitive and utter sofa loafers. I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to have a lurcher snuggled on your lap. I've had lurchers for years and dogs for over 30 years there is nowt better than a lurcher or greyhound.
No wonder the poor guy has seperation anxiety. You are out all day at work, then when you are in he is not allowed on the sofa and is locked away from his humans at night. He wants your company.
The panting sounds like stress.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...
Pet Peeves.... queues, vain people and hypocrites ..not necessarily in that order.0 -
Is he getting enough exercise?
Is he well exercised before you leave him so he is tired and likely to sleep?
Do you do any mental exercise with him- training him to do things, tricks etc, Using up mental energy helps to make a dog calmer.
Do you leave him something like a stuffed kong when you go out?
Have you done any preparation with him for leaving him?
Remember he is in a strange place with new and unknown routines, with people whom he does not know and who speak what is to him a strange language. Imagine someone only spoke you in Chinese but expected you to know what was required of you.
He may not even have known his name when he came to you. It certainly wouldn't be a name he had before he became a stray.
He may have been a latch key dog who was used to being able to wander at will.
He has a lot to learn and needs you to help him.
Have you signed up for training classes. That would help both of you.
