No Date On Section 21 Form 6A

Hi we were given notice to quit our flat at the end of the fixed term tenancy. The landlord is selling the property. We are in the process now of buying a property but may need a couple more weeks after we have to technically be out of here.
On checking the paperwork today I have noticed that in the section 21 form 6a paperwork in section 2 there is no date listed where it says 'you are required to leave the below address after ...........'
The letting agents have left the date completely blank. Can this mean they have to reissue the section 21? I'm only asking as it may give us the couple of weeks leeway that we could really do with!!

The section 21 notice is a notice for possession. You cannot be evicted without a court order which would take several weeks.
The simplest thing is to speak to the LA, or preferably the LL (if you can) and come to some agreement about leaving.
Once your fixed tern comes to an end you automatically go onto a periodic tenancy (month to month) and you would have to give the correct notice yourself. (See if it says anything about this in your tenancy agreement and come back if you have questions.)
Since the LL is selling the property then I am sure you will be able to get an amicable compromise. Just make sure that whatever is agreed is put into writing so there is no comeback about rent owing.0 -
The answer is yes, it's invalid.
However as pmlindyloo says, the LL wants the tenancy to end. You want the tenancy to end. Surely a sensible discussion over the precise date would resolve this?0 -
I should of added we have been totally up front with the letting agents. We told them we are buying a property and it's going to be a rush to complete in the now 6.5 weeks we have left and could we perhaps stay on longer. All they would say is you will have to ask us nearer the time so you can tell us what stage you are at.
We are trying to be as flexible as we can with taking photos and floor plans etc.... And we don't mind reasonable viewings in the evenings and weekends. They just kind of like it their own way and never ever give us a time. Like tomorrow they are coming for photos won't give me a time though and I am off on holiday for the summer so I will be around. On Tuesday they want a guy to come round and do the floor plans and we just had an email that said 'we will give him the keys and he will be around at sometime on Tuesday'. I replied that I am around Tuesday and would like to be given a time. And I haven't had a reply. That was on Thursday last week.0 -

That seems fair. Your purchase might fall through. It might get held up. Who knows? Speaking again nearer the time makes sense.

Good for you.

write to them, politely, asking for a time, and say that if you don't hear back you will assume the visit has been cancelled.
Also write about the tenancy extension. Thank them for their understanding regarding the flexibility of a tenancy end date, and yes, you will be in touch nearer the time when you have more certainty about your purchase date.0
