Multiple capital one searches

Me again. I know I'm a pain...
While checking my noddle file I noticed that capital one has searched me monthly for the last 4 months?! I have no idea why. Would they have had to ask my permission? I made two applications recently and both were accepted I know that this will impact on my score however I can't understand why capital one are searching. I have queried it with noddle. Anyone else had this? Thanks for reading

No. Permission is not needed from you to search the CRA files about you. Any organisation with which you have a financial or other relationship, and many others as well, can carry out credit searches without reference to you. No consent, implicit or explicit, is required. However, some of them are obliged to tell you they are doing it - though many don't, and your case is perhaps an example of the latter.0 -
Thanks for your reply. I just found it weird. I've no accounts with capital one!!0

In that case the searches shouldn't be carried out.
Did you use a comparison site to review CC companies? I know with insurance companies the use of such sites seems to give all the companies that appear in the list the right to hit you with a credit search, and they do so on an annual basis until you complain about it. Maybe the same is true with credit card companies. It would not surprise me in the least.0 -
Have you looked at Noddle's 'suggested cards'? Cap1 will do a soft search to see if they can pre-approve you for anything, that might explain your monthly searches.
Other lenders won't see them if they are soft searches.0 -
