ESA Support Group: Temporary two month contract and full time hours

Hi All

So basically to update I am now being offered 20 hours a week work till the end of August 2016 which I know is over the ESA threshold of permitted work, (am 22 years old and on 6.70 an hour) I really want to try see if I can do this, I know that I will be signing off ESA tomorrow, (especially as my family are very insistent I get this job) but I was wondering in the event my health takes a nosedive again (have mental health issues, tried to take my own life in April and have M.E and Aspergers)

I love working where I am, I just want to know that if I need to claim ESA in the future would I have to start from scratch in the form of getting fit notes and being assessed or could I just go for a reclaim? Just genuinely curious as not clued up on how it all works.. thanks again!

You can make a rapid reclaim for ESA if you claim again within 12 weeks (called a linked claim I believe)

You would return to the same ESA award as before and would not be reassessed.

Good luck with your new job!

    Re WTC:

I think you should qualify for the disability element.

    Some info here:
    https://www.gov.uk/working-tax-credit/eligibility

Note that "The work must last at least 4 weeks (or you must expect it to last 4 weeks) and must be paid." So you should meet this.

Info on the disability element here:
    http://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/disability-element
    http://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/work-disadvantage-test
    http://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/qualifying-benefit-test

Working 20 hours and having claimed ESa should qualify you, along with "You cannot normally sustain an 8 hour working day or a 5 day working week due to a medical condition"

Worth ringing the TC line on 0345 300 3900 to get more info / a claim form.
