    they really shouldn't stipulate 2 hours, if they don't intend it?
    They don't though, do they. What they actually say, on the final confirmation screen, is...

    I've found the Yorkshire Building Society notoriously slow at transferring faster payments (their idea of "faster" payments certainly isn't the same as mine!;) ) It can take them until Monday evening to transfer a payment made on Friday and even on weekdays the payment doesn't arrive until the end of the next day, whereas my other banks usually have the payments in the respective accounts sometimes even by the time I've logged out of one account and logged into another.

    I always transfer a minute amount first of all to any new account to make sure it goes in okay and to see how long it takes in each case; it's a horrible feeling when money is suspended in cyberspace having left one account, but not yet appeared in another.
    A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.

    They do say here that payments from your account will normally arrive the next day.

    Hi YB, This is what it says.TESCO;
    "Your payment has been set up and should reach the payee within the next two hours"
    nothing there about usually?
    I always take a screengrab of all transfers, then, delete when I know the money has landed..

    Message I quoted was from a Tesco current account. I have nothing in my savings accounts. Were you sending from current or savings?...I suspect savings. Either way, the word "should", as posted above, is essentially the same message.

    The real point is that Tesco Bank have zero control over when the receiving bank posts the payment to your account, so the best they can do is give a qualified timescale, which they have.
