Wall plaster / morter

Hi guys,

Before you apply plaster to a hard solid wall, there is another layer of plaster or morter under it.

Is it mortar or undercoat bonding plaster? It is about 11 mm thick.

Second question is how do you fill the void created by removing a red brick from the wall? Mortar or filling stuff or cement?

Finally what is the name of the wire placed around pipes in house to prevent mice coming in?

Many thanks

Is this internal? Usually a plaster bonding coat then a coat of skim, although there is one coat plaster available, but I've found it hard to get a good finish except on small areas using this.

I'd try to fill in the brick with another (piece of) brick if you can, bedded with cement based mortar (you can buy premixed bags for a small job - just add water.

Not used the anti-mouse stuff but is it not just a piece of wire mesh - can be bought in sheets/rolls quite easily
