Cheap Day out in London for a 4 year old?

Coming to London at the weekend with grandparents and four year old son. Looking for ideas of where to go/see. The last time we came into London wentt to the Science Museum and I was very impressed by how much stuff they had to interest a four year old boy so considering other museums which offer free entry.
I did think the Natural History museum but thought it may be a bit too scary for him with the dinosuars or is there lots of other stuff there to keep him entertained. Any suggestions?

I can offer no resistance, I can offer no respite

I doubt if the dinosaurs would scare a child. But, if so, then the NHM is huge. There is plenty of other stuff to see there and will take hours to go round. So take a picnic. Their food is really expensive.
It`s only a short walk to Harrods from there. He can get ideas for his letter to Santa.0 -
NHM is brilliant, but the queues can be horrendous - definitely worth the wait, but a 4 year old might not agree
.
Depending on the weather, can I recommend Corams Fields"Coram's Fields is a unique seven acre playground and park for children living in or visiting London. It is open access, provides a calm, safe and stimulating environment where children can play freely and enjoy a varied programme of activities."It's just round the corner from Gt Ormand Street Hosptial (Russel Square tube). My kids loved it when they were little. There's all sorts of things to play on and a petting zoo. It's totally aimed at children (adults are not allowed in without a child in tow
). Best part is it's free!
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.
Oi you lot - please

I have held a frightened pre-school child in my arms while he cringed from the small (velociraptor?) animated dinosaurs at the natural history museum. How cheap does it have to be, as the transport museum may be an option.
There's also that Princess Diana memorial playground in Hyde Park. The one with the big wooden boat. Many interesting and inventive toys for children, and I know from experience that approximate 4 year olds may well love it. I can't remember the exact name, but know how to get there. If you need me to check exact directions, PM me.0 -
The London Aquarium has lots of stuff to do with kids.
My DD loved it and she's 3Fat and proud lol0 -
This weekend is The Mayor's Thames Festival, free entertainment from Tower Bridge to Westminster Bridge. Blue Ribbon Village at Potter's Field Park looks to be the most child-orientated site, but there seems to be lots going on all weekend.

Perhaps we can start a club of people over the age of something that have climbed to the crow's nest on the pirate ship. Two members so far, I'm sure there are more.0 -
