Santander App log-in problem

I tried to log in to my Santander accounts this morning using the mobile app. I entered my PIN but it was rejected so was extra careful when I entered the correct PIN on a second and third attempts. Unfortunately I received an error message with a request to call a specific phone number. On calling the number it gave me another number to call which in turn gave me yet another number to call! I spoke with the rep on the other end of the phone who advised me that it would take 6 working days to get a new PIN to me! I asked whether it was possible that someone else had tried my log-in as I was absolutely positive that I'd entered my correct PIN but was told it was irrelevant as the accounts were locked and could not now be accessed,
Strange or what?.
