ESA incorrect amount

Can anyone shed any light on this please? My husband claims ESA (support group) for us both, and has for a while now. We have recently moved from Wales into England. We rang the DWP to inform them of our change of address. The next ESA payment is due on Monday, but I just checked the bank online now & there was a payment dated yesterday (Friday), it says JSA instead of the usual ESSA, and is £97.20 less than usual. Why would we lose money simply by moving to a new address?

When an ESA payment is showing as JSA it usually means that it is an adhoc payment so you should receive your usual payment on Monday.

Are there any recent changes to your claim? An award of PIP for example? Or any other changes of circumstances other than a change of address?

A change of address will not alter the payments.

If you cannot think of any reason for this one off payment then you will need to call them on Monday and ask what it is for.
  • Thanks for your reply. No, no other changes at all except the address. We do both get DLA/PIP as well, but they are not new claims. The only thing I was thinking was......we moved from Wales into England. Could it be because the payments are usually payed in arrears (I think) that it will be a change in benefits office, and we may get some from each office this first time?
