Renting with a recent CCJ

My marriage is breaking down due to money problems caused when my husband lost his job. We are looking to sell our house (no children) but I'm terrified I won't be able to find a rental property due to poor credit. (I know I have no chance at a mortgage) We have a lot of joint credit card debt which is defaulted, 1 of which has now gone to a CCJ with monthly payments agreed (only happened in the last month). I earn a good salary and can easily afford monthly rental once the house is sold, along with being able to pay significant sums off the debts, I can also arrange for my parents to act as guarantor (they are retired and own their own property).
Can anyone offer reassurance that I will be able to find somewhere to live and be accepted as a tenant - I'm having sleepless nights over this and feel so low with everything going on, I don't know where to turn.

Search the forums there's a thread which is basically the same situation as you, a ccj and wanting to rent.

If you google "can I rent with a ccj " there's the tenants tips link.

    It is possible.

It will be harder to rent but it's not impossible.

We rented after a ccj(&lots of debt). We got three character references, paid in advance, met the landlord and explained the situation. They later told us the lettings agents had tried to talk them out of accepting us but thank goodness for us that they trusted us

You may have to.pay 6m in advance and get references etc but please don't panic as its not impossible.

You should be able to get something sorted. As already mentioned you may have to put up a large deposit or pay a few months in advance but it is far from impossible to resolve.
