DWP have issued an example copy of a PIP Application form - it is 35 pages long - but fails to ask a single relevant question. When I applied for DLA, 10 years ago - they asked relevant (to me) questions !!

Yep, that's how they do things now. I added sheets on the back explaining what my actual problems are.0

I was considering asking for a reassessment for my DLA - which I have been claiming for 10 years +
But in light of what DWP are going to assess me on - I will wait to be called
I am having a replacement knee on Wednesday but this won't affect anything that I am currently claiming - I am only getting mid care component - based on poor communications (lack of speech and lack of legible handwriting (no longer stated on form) plus poor memory (due to ancient head injury (again, lacking on form) - plus other health issues (NOT even mentioned) - so I am going to have to add several reams of extra info to form ...
As far as I can make out - my mid care component - would transfer as low care PIP. Which they MUST offer me - so, "financially" - it makes sense to apply now - they evidently assess your "current" health state, as long as you have been eligible for at least 6 months, rather than "how you will be in 6 months tiime" ?
What would you do ?
Would you "jump the gun" and apply now ?0 -
To be fair, it is helpful for some people. My son has Down's Syndrome and has a lot of medical problems. He has significant care and mobility needs. The form gives me the chance to spell out how his difficulties affect him. He is unable to fill out the form himself due to his learning disability.0

I have already challenged DWP on the form filling - they have offered me an alternative - an editable PDF which they claim will be available to me on request (I have my doubts though)0 -
Middle care DLA and standard daily living PIP are essentially the same thing.
They don't need to award you anything so I would hold off until you're invite unless you have a reportable change of circumstances.0 -
These are the current PIP forms that have been in use from day 1 as far as I can see, like DLA forms not all the pages apply to all the people, all the time. The trick is to write an answer to each question that applies to you on a sheet of paper then read it and re-read it before committing it to the form.0

Don't you worry - when I do fill in the forms - I will enclose hundreds (if not thousands) of pages of extra evidence - I have huge wadges of the stuff - it will take them months to go through properly - and if they fail to read every single word and reduce my finances due to not taking everything into account - I will haul them up before the ECHR (Whilst we are still in the EC - I WILL make use of it !!)0 -
Why do you say that DWP 'must' give you basic rate care award?
It doesn't matter how many pages you send in, you will only be awarded PIP if you score the required number of points. You need to think about how you can phrase your answers so that you show how and why you score those points.0 -

Don't be silly the usual rules don't apply to 50Twuncle!0
