Rough Plastering quote and advice

Hi All,
Wonder if you can help. I have a living room i my new flat measuring 4.5 x 5.5.
The walls currently have lining paper on them. You can easily see below the lining paper just by looking at it where the previous owners removed the wallpaper and plaster came off of it in various places, most probably with the previous wallpaper and they used lining paper i the hope of covering it up. The walls are all plasterboard and hollow to the knock.
My question is this, can I remove the lining paper and get a plasterer just to skim the walls to get them back to a flat surface and then paint afterwards? If so what would be the cost for someone in east anglia I should be looking at for a ball park figure.

First you want to take the paper off to reveal what is below. I suspect it is a layer or 2 of wallpaper that was too difficult for the previous occupier to remove properly.
You don't want to pay plasterers to do this work as it would work out quicker and cheaper to rip off the plasterboard and start again.0 -
Thanks for the reply, I have taken a few sheets down and there is nothing below the lining paper other than plaster stuck hard to the plaster board and in some other areas no plaster. Imagine the photos above without the lining paper. it is essentially like that underneath.
It is only about 2-3mm of plaster stuck on there and in some parts just the plasterboard0 -
We just got our stair walls, hallway and landing plastered which cost £550. Took 2 people a day work on a saturday.0

Sounds like you need to remove the wallpaper, buy a steamer from Toolstation for about £30. Then get a qoute from a plaster for reskimming the room. It should not take more than a day and cost no more than £175.0

That sounds very cheap for a day of a plasterer's time even without factoring in materials. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -

I take it that you are a professional spread with many years experience in order to make that assertion.0 -
In 30 years of waving at walls I have never seen a PB wall delaminate.
How old is the building? I am thinking lime that has been over set.0 -
Prob about 30 years, it is a flat, building is sturdy.0
