Not accepted not declined mortgage.

My husband and I applied for a mortgage today. We only have a 5% deposit, our brokers applied to the Halifax and it was returned as NOT accepted but NOT declined 🤔 We checked out credit files before hand which are all green. There is 1 late payment on a gas bill (which is incorrect) but there is red late payments on my personal loan. In 2014 when I went on maternity leave I called the bank to explain my salary would be reduced any they put me on something like a payment holiday. They did this twice and I think it totalled 12 months where it was arranged no payments would be made. But at the end of those 12 months they would call me refinance my loan which would clear the arrears. But it now has a month of arranged payments then 4 missed payments, AP, 6 missed payments, AP, 4 missed payments. This has to be the only reason we were declined. We can more than afford the mortgage.

Called the bank today and the lady I spoke to seemed to think I could get it sorted. would anyone know can I? How long would it take? I'm laid awake panicking that we're going to loose the house. We're not in a chain so everyone's hoping it's going to go through quickly. I can't Sleep.

I'm sorry I'm unable to offer any advice beyond the standard ' call the creditor and issue a formal complaint regarding their car reporting being incorrect' and mean while maybe you can get a not added explaining why it was put in arrears??

Surely wait until the bank sorts it out (or doesn't.)

You're putting the cart before the horse, wait and see what they have to say first.

Did you check your credit files all of them before you applied? If there were disputes you should have corrected them before you applied

Unless payment holidays were part of the original T&C of your loan then when you were unable to continue making the full payments you were in arrears and that is reflected on your credit file. Yes the bank might have agreed to reduced payments but if you breached the original T&C you were in arrears.
