Conflicting addresses from council and royal mail

Hi.

I recently moved house and have been updating bank/utilities etc. All fine.

I came to updating the electoral roll as I want everything to be the same as I'm trying to improve my credit score and the council's address for my flat shoes a different road name to that of Royal Mail and all online shops etc when you put in your postcode.

The block of flats I live in is on the corner of these 2 roads.

2 questions -

1. Will this affect my credit rating if there's an inconsistency?

2. Who should I take this issue up with? The council or everybody else?

Thanks

    1. Almost definitely.
    2. The council are the ones who name and number roads and properties. Double check with them and then take it up with RM.

    Excellent advice.
Mistakes are made but the address originates from the council.

I had a similar problem at a previous address, it was known by one address by royal mail and another by the council. It had originally been known by the name the council had. The landlord had not told the council of the change of name. I had to get the credit agency to put a dual address on the system so that it showed I was registered to vote and all addresses linked up correctly.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Part of the problem is that the Royal Mail's Postcode Address File is used as a database of residential properties when it isn't. The PAF is a database of "Delivery Points". So if, let's say, you live in a block of flats but all the flats share a mailbox in the building main door the PAF will only have one entry.

Now, if you can argue that the delivery point is in the same street than the council uses, you can ask Royal Mail to update the PAF: http://www.royalmail.com/postcode-finder-address-enquiry-form
Then, months/years later (some are way faster than others), the different companies will sync their databases with the PAF.
