Oculus Thrift - actually not that bad!

Bought a cheap 3d headset other day. My first one was the early google cardboard from a year or two back, ok for novelty but uncomfortable and didn't work with my old moto g phone.

Now have a mid range nexus 5x, so thought I'd see how things had moved on. Was planning on an OR, but like many people baulked at the final price and required PC hardware. Not to be put off, I purchased one of these:

Tried some of the cardboard apps and pretty impressive, quite liked the 360 videos and the dizzy VR rollercoaster.

I'd known that it was possible to stream to a headset and I use moonlight regularly on my phone, so as I had a compatible cheapo nvidia 750ti I thought I'd give it a blast.

After a bit of faffing I finally got tridef working properly.
Waiting for alien isolation to install so had a go on Elite Dangerous, a game I hadn't played in months.

WOW! It might not be a rift, but even so its incredibly immersive, graphics are clear even on a 1080p screen 2 inches from my face. Its now 1.00 in the morning, told wife I'd be up in 5 mins, that was 2 hours ago.

About to turn PC off and call it a night, but already I want to return to 'the matrix'.

Might try GTA 5 tomorrow in FP mode!
