Contents Insurance when unemployed?

Sadly I have left my husband with my children and am now renting privately while our family home is sold. I have had to register as unemployed while looking for work to support my family.
I need to get home contents insurance but I've read that if you are unemployed it can increase the premiums a lot. Our flat also has a flat roof, which bumps up the price some more! Money is tight so any help in getting good insurance cover that isn't too much per month would be really helpful, thanks. x

Thanks Quentin, I've already read that page though and been through some comparison websites. The premiums are about twice what I was expecting-possibly due to the combo of being unemployed plus having a flat roof!
If anyone can recommend anyone who doesn't jack up the cost sky high in these circumstances, I'd be grateful.0 -

Contents Insurers are not keen on them as they are normally very flamable and you also have the increase risk of water ingress0
