  • I think you are right, I have been around Milton Keynes area before and I found it quite dull, I don't think I am researching that part of the UK anymore for living, I'll focus more on the west and east of greater London, like Guildford areas, and Essex areas and beyond.

I guess I will have to take my time, and save a bit more, and stay focused, I just can't help but feel I might be missing the train if property prices continue to get higher and higher, wouldn't it make more sense to just buy quicker?

The money you save up over time, the property value would have gone up too..

I have found great areas just outside of london that would suit me very well - for example on the east side near Essex areas, Basildon, south-end on-sea, corringham Chelmsford, Rayleigh all of these areas have very affordable apartments and even some terraced houses in the 200k range and less.

They have great transport links into london, you are looking at anywhere between 30mins to 1 hour maximum, and you get to live in a near countryside style of environment, much more leafy and less fast paced like london.

Make sure you do your research on the areas.. Basildon isn't very nice (IMO) and some parts of Southend aren't desirable too! Check the crime rates..

I apologise if things went off-topic but hope you have gleaned some ideas, anyway. We are here to help and support; that is what this forum is for. Unfortunately, occasionally it descends into spats and becomes too personal.

Best of luck and look forward to hearing about your journey.

well with brexit we are already seeing prices falling and expect them to do so for some time. So if you are looking within 12-18 months i really don't see prices going up much

Also agree Basildon is rough, but there are nice parts of essex and east london and up to bishop stortford.
